Finally, I feel like I got a reasonable amount of interrupted sleep last night. I went to bed with Emma around 10. She woke up once mroe I think, then again at 5:30. She woke up after the sun rose, nursed a bit more, fell asleep again, then woke up for the day, nursing a bit more. I know it was less than last night cuz I am right full of milk. :-)

Can you tell I don’t always look at the clock? The horribly selfish part of me can’t wait until she’s done nursing. But, you know now that I think of it, if she’d sleep thru the night I’d probably feel differently.

Friday Five again!

1. Do you eat breakfast? What did you have today? Two slices of toast with margarine, peanut butter and raspberry jam in thin layers and a cup of blackcurrant hearbal tea. Sometimes I have a bagel or even a cinnamon raisin scone, maybe a granola bar or a cookie. Rarely I have cereal.

2. What beverages do you usually have in a typical day? Herbal tea, sometimes juice if I’m really thirsty. The frozen concentrate stuff. If it’s hot I’ll have a tall glass of water.

3. White bread or wheat bread? Usually white if I bought it, but I get the cheapest store bakery stuff I can because I think it’s healthier than the fluffy brands. When I make it I try to add some whole wheat flour.

4. What’s your favorite kind (potato/tortilla/corn) and flavor of chip? Chips and I are tight, man. Big cheap greasy plain potato chips, ripples or not, dip or not, I can eat bags and bags. And those little halloween bags are just a mouthfull, man.

5. How do you plan to spend your weekend? I’m hoping we’ll be relaxing, instead of going all over town tommorow morning shopping with Mom. Really, we go a lot of places for the small amount of money we spend. Well, okay maybe we’ll go visit that big craft store. I’m looking for essential oils in fruity scents to make my own soap (from scratch, not a melt-n-pour thing). My other plans include eating and sleeping, both of which have been in short supply.

ramble

Continuing from the last entry….

After the kids were done begging for candy, we shucked costumes and went over to the church where they were having a party for the kids. For the non-halloween people, see, since we all know the devil-worshippers come out then. (gonna burn for that one)

Anyway, when we get there, the pastor is carrying out one of the ladies from the prayer meeting which was also going on. Seems she collapsed. Nothing like getting the kids really excited, eh?

Ron is in the lovely new habit of getting me fresh-cut flowers every two weeks. Isn’t that nice? Some of them last quite a long time, like the ones from last week. Daylilies and tigerlilies. The purple ones with the green tips are my fave.
I think Emma cut another tooth. That would make 9 and she’s 10 1/2 months old. She leaves teeth marks on me whenever she nurses. The thing with this latest one is that it seems to be coming out of the side of the gum. And the rest came in so nicely. Either that, or there’s something stuck in her gum from all the interesting things she picks up around here.

Yesterday was what would have been my grandparent’s 60th anniversary. I hope we’re married that long. It was a little rough, but I managed. Wrote a little note to grampy as well.

Every Friday morning the kids have Social Science class. That is, they watch the survivor tape. :-) I figure maybe next week it will be something like an animal stampede, a bunch of warriors show up, or a fistfight breaks out. Either way, I’m there man.

Today, after we get the van back from the mechanic on the corner (oil change), and Emma wakes up and we have lunch, we’ll be doing a big grocery run. I don’t have my deep freeze up here, which is huge and ancient, so it’s really fun when I bring back lots of food. Not to mention the small cupboards. I was saying to Mom just last night how I would have a different mental attitude about the whole thing if I were really staying all winter. I’d totally pack up most of Michelle’s stuff, for starters, and I’d re-arrange the cupboards way more than I alreayd have. But I’ll manage, since I noticed a huge amount of bread crusts taking up space in the freezer. Time to make stuffing!

The other thing making me happy is we figured out a temporary spot to set up the sewing machine. In the bathroom. Yeah, it’s that huge. It also has two sink, and we normally all use the same one. So much so, that we placed a box over the other one and never noticed. I guess we’re going to find a piece of wood to go over the sink so I can use it as a counter. I’ll stand up to sew, but that’s okay since I sew for only a few minutes at a time and it’s really more comfortable that way.

Gotta run, she’s up!

It’s also Little Nanny and Grampy’s anniversary. It would have been their 60th. SIXTY YEARS!!! Can you imagine loving someone for that long? I wrote him a little note to say I was thinking of him.

I miss them both. Especially Nanny.
