This webpage was extremely interesting. A German (?) exchange student writes letters home about his experience in the American school system. A real eye opener. I wonder what he would think of homeschooling? The most interesting part was what he though of american society in general.

And as much as we like to deny it, Canadians are more similar to Americans than we are different.

I haven’t done the Friday Five in a long time, mostly becasue I didn’t have much of an answer for any of the questions. :-)

1. Have you ever had braces? Any other teeth trauma?
Yep, I had the big ugly silver braces for most of high school. Mom always says, “For $1800 your teeth *should* look nice!” I had a retainer, too, but I never wore it. I have a problem with dentists, which you knew if you read that journal entry. I did have one dentist that gave me novacaine 3 times, and still managed to miss the nerves. he said he couldn’t give me any more and went ahead filling my tooth anyway. And that’s when I was a kid. I had to have 3 adult teeth extracted when I got my braces too. That sucked. Oh! And that wisdom tooth a couple years ago, that was painful.

2. Ever broken any bones? Nope, not a one.

3. Ever had stitches? Um, yeah, but mostly when I had the kids. Addison I had lots for, not sure how many but it took a half-hour, Sarah I had quite a few, Meaghn only two and Emma just three. And a couple stitches the next day when I got my tubes tied.

4. What are the stories behind some of your [physical] scars?
Well, there’s a scar on my left pinky from a glass that broke while I was washing it. On the same hand are small scars on the knuckle of the index and middle figner from an interesting accident. We (Ron Ad & I) were moving a chunk of built roof for the chicken coop and my finger got squashed between it and the tractor. I have a black dot on the inside of my right foot from when my aunt (my age) stabbed me with a pencil. Although *she* says I kicked her hand. :-P I have had small burn scars from clothes irons on my arms, but they faded. Just regular pressing accidents, because at one time I sewed a lot.

5. How do you plan to spend your weekend? I have no idea. Probably putter around the house. We were supposed to have a HUGE groundhog day party, but… we didn’t. It will be next week. I really must write an entry about that….
