Hey Flidais! You’re IT!
My homeschooling friend from Friday’s visit has herown website here: P A R E N T I N G D E C I S I O N S . c o m I think she did a great job!
I don’t know why I go so long between entries. Living I guess. Had a couple of withdrawn type days this week, so of course I didn’t want to bore you all with that.
Today, Ron took the kids down to our old house to clear out some more stuff. There’s some dressers and shelving still down there, plus some odds and ends and a surprising amount of toys and things of the children’s. They are also visiting our friends which used to be our neighbours, Wendy’s kids. They left about 10 this morning, and I made sure they had a decent breakfast and were laden down with books, sandwiches, fruit and juice for the trip. I made it to about 11:30 before I called my mommy to come get me. 🙂 She took me and Emma out to lunch with her and Carl, then us girls did some shopping. Mostly window-shopping, but at the thrift store, Emma picked out a jumper with Zoe (from Sesame Street) on it. All of $2. Then Mom felt real sorry for me, so she fed me super as well. While I was there, I called Wendy and talked to her
Lest I felt too guilty, I told her it was a great Mother’s Day present to spend so much time almost kid-free with her only daughter. Laid it on a little thick, though.
Yesterday, we had a home schooling family over for a visit and had a great time. I always feel like I talk about myself too much, but she can keep up with me. I hope we become great friends, because the potential is there. We have so much in common. Co-sleeping, breastfeeding, that sort of thing. She has a baby a few months younger than Emma, and two boys aged 3 and almost 9. The older boys played on the computer with Addison, and both us moms remarked on how that wouldn’t naturally happen had they been used to the age classes of the school system. She’s just great. 🙂
Emma seems to be developing by leaps and bounds these days. The other night I listed 36 words she can say. She also understands about a dozen other phrases, or can show us what she wants. For your enjoyment, here they are:
Mom, Dad, Addy, Sarah (say-ya), Meaghan (nay-nay), Mam, Carl, baby, kitty, car, BALL!, booby, t.v., juice, eat (also signs it), belly, toes, nose, eyes, ears, see it, boots, Barney, Elmo, Ernie, NO, down, outside, yes, more (ah-ee), come on (mon), bye bye, nite, nite, book, kids, uh-oh, hi. She understands or can show us: waving bye or hi, go outside, go for a drive, go to Mam’s, want to eat, wants to nurse, stinky toes, stinky diaper, wants to go to bed, gives kisses and hugs, smacks lips and go “ah†after a big drink. What a smart baby!
She is really starting to be shy with some strangers, now. She will bow her head and stare really hard at the ground. It takes a long time to get her to look up again. Then again, sometimes, like today, she will say bye bye to everyone we see in a store!
So now Emma is sleeping off her busy afternoon. She was pretty lonely without the kids and Dad here. Ron just called to say there were leaving, so I can expect the crew at 10 tonight.
I hope we get the van unloaded before church tomorrow.
