Yesterday it snowed all day.

Yesterday it snowed all day. Again, I was curled up under the covers, trying to catch 40 more winks. Ron was up and around, Emma was trying to wake up the girls. I hear Ron come upstairs all excited.

“Someone drove into our hedge!”

Cool, I thought , and grabbed my pants. I’m up now.

We live on a very busy 3-way corner, especially during morning rush hour. The road to the side of us slopes gently toward the main drag. All the snow we’ve had has built up on the right side, for some reason, and this is what the lady skidded on, without her snow tires. She was lucky, too that she didn’t continue skidding through the intersection, and landed squarely between the two trees (one next to a power pole) on our side lawn. She was more embarrassed than shaken when she came into the house with Ron. She thought her husband would be really upset, plus it’s a heck of a way to meet your new neighbours. I tried to console her about the hedge by telling her exactly how fast it grows (really fast) and how cutting it down to the ground won’t kill it. When we expanded our driveway and made it a half-circle, we had to cut down some of the hedge further up. The stumps in the middle where the tires miss, have been growing all summer. So in the spring it should fill in quickly. Besides, even though she was falling all over herself to pay for it, I keep thinking, pay for what? Pick up a new section at the hedge store? I’m not exactly sure what kind of plant it is anyway. There’s a hole in the hedge at the front of the house that was there when we got here. We were first told it was because someone’s car landed on it, but after talking to the previous owner, she said it was that salt that really did it in. And there’s no stumps there, so I think they dug them out. No wonder it never grew back!

I did get a couple of pictures. :)

In other news, Ron is leaving today for a little MicroSuck conference in Halifax. I kinda like it when he goes away, makes my heart grow fonder, plus I can do some things at night I might not otherwise with him here. Like clean! Every time he goes away, I always feel like “getting things done”, and this time I really hope to because…

He’s taking the laptop with him! Eeek!

He asked very nicely too, and since it’s been a distraction for me, and it’s only 2 days, I said okay. Had to print out all sorts of things to keep me busy though. I’m sure I forgot something I might need (relatively speaking).

The other good thing is I’ll have the van to myself from now until Friday AND he gets paid tomorrow. I love joint accounts.

So leave lots of comments for me to come back to. :)
