I woke up, as usual,

I woke up, as usual, in the pre-dawn light of 6am and knew right away something was not the same. I finally extricated my self from the bedclothes, the husband and the child all nestled firmly around and to either side of me, and placed one warm toe on the chilly floor. Eventually I made my fuzzy eyed way to the bathroom, kleenex in hand. A quick glance out the window confirmed it: there was a blanket of white everywhere.
After a sleepy nurse for the baby, the next thing I heard, after I was back in nestled in my blankets, was, “Mama! Snow! See? Snow!” Emma had got up with the other kids and had been introduced to the fluffy white stuff by her brother. “Brrr!” she said.
Was it any coincidence that I was listening to Christmas CDs yesterday?

I think i overdid it a little, as I spent most of last night curled up on the couch, half asleep. Fatigue and a headache had struck me around snack time, so I pretty much took it easy the rest of the night, even though Meaghan had her little friend over.

Today is more switcheroo, as Addison has gone over the his friend Steven’s house. Steven’s twin sister Kimmy is over here to stay with Sarah. I always tell Kimmy and Steven how I have trouble telling them apart. Since they’re twins and all. 😉 Meaghan’s friend Eleanor is still here as it is snowing pretty hard still. Ron just commented how nuts he was to be trapped in a house with six women. 🙂

The baby is napping, so I took a quick break to update everything while it was fresh in my mind. I’d like to update more, which is why I’m pouring it into my journal, rather than any mailing list I’m on. (Sorry guys, you know I love you! 🙂 ) Mostly cuz I’m short on time (Oh wait! There’s this invention called Cut & Paste!) Today I already went shopping a little, for a birthday goldfish, boots and a snow scraper, among other things. I have the mitten box in the washer, as I was negligent in the spring. New mittens are on my shopping list, as are snowpants and hats. I still have some serious tidying up to do, as we started to sort through Emma’s toys in the living room, before I was struck down with a headache. 😉 I also have to start some Christmassy list-making, so now I will leave you with my Top Ten list of Christmas songs that bring a tear to my eye. 😉

(In no particular order)
1. Oh Holy Night
2. Carol of the Bells (one where they sing, not just bells)
3. Ave Maria
4. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas (Ernie & Bert version, so hush!)
5. Do You Hear What I Hear?
6. Away In A Manger (Gladys Knight & The Pips)
7. The First Noel (Crash Test Dummies version, cuz Ron sings that deep)
8. Hallelujah Chorus (you know you do too!)
9. Jingle Bells (any swing version)
10. Joy To The World (shut up! It is too good!)
