tinker tailor

So I went back to an old template and tweaked that, after a good half hour of trying to get that sidebar up here for half of you. ;) If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right?

(Side note: why do I keep changing the css file instead of uploading a new one and pointing to that? I have blown away old templates acidentally. I save them on the hard drive now.)

I’m posting this now to see how it looks. Hope it is not too bad, I expect some little things though.

Emma wants bubbles in her outdoor pool.

new entry too

So if I hadn’t talked to you in a week or so, and you called me up and asked, “What’s new?” it would sound (read?) a lot like this.

And the last little bit sorta explain why I haven’t got around to fixing this layout yet. That is slated for this afternoon, so nobody better not drag me off to a chat room either. ;)

At least not until I’m done.

sunny summer days

So I guess it is officially summer if one if my kids is off to day camp already. Meaghan was up at 7 rummaging around. I think she was excited. It started at 8 this year, instead of 9, so Ron ran her down the street and came back to finish getting ready for work. Since the grown-ups are out of school too, he doesn’t need to worry about being punctual. (and given all the overtime he puts in, I dare anyone to quibble)

So Meaghan is excited too, because she gets to see her friend practically all day every day. Yesterday while out running errands, we picked up some temporary hair color (wash out) she had her eye on. She wanted bright red streaks in her blonde hair. She tried last night and wasn’t happy with the result (too light) so I did it for her and she liked it. It looked so good, that as soon as she got up from the chair, Emma took her place saying, “Emma hab red hair too?”

So I did a couple streaks in Emma’s hair too. She thinks it is wonderful. Ismoothed it out a little more to dry faster, so now it looks more pink than anything, and it is not the neatest job in the world.

Must re-install web cam to at least get a blurry shot of it.

I’ve been meaning to mention we found some more rosebushes in our front yard. I know! How could we miss them? Actually, they are in the one area that is messy and overgrown, right on the property line to our neighbours on the right, and right near the road. Their driveway is right there, and last year we mostly hacked at the area since the bushes were too high for them to see oncoming traffic. A lot of leaves and salt/gravel piles up there in winter too. There’s not much grass on the strip on his side.

So anyway, Ron and I were moseying around the grounds the other night, and discussing how to clean up the area. One of us waved our hands thru the leaves and got hit with a thorn. (I think it was me.) That’s how we found them. Last night, I cleaned up a whole wheelbarrow full (we have an extra-large one) of matted leaves and twigs. Really, I think they only survived the salt and stuff because of all the leaf coverage.

Addison mows two people’s lawns so far. All he needs is to get a couple more and it will be the only summer job he needs. He mows Mom and Carl’s, and our “behind” neighbour’s. He says our neighbour is really picky in that certain areas have to be mowed in a certain direction, and also the weed whacking. The first time he did it, their son followed with a squirt gun, so I asked if he gets hazard pay. At any rate, I am glad, but I’d like to see him do a better job on our own lawn!

Sarah is still doing schoolwork. She has one science test she has put off for ages now, a couple days worth of writing, and some Math. For someone who says she likes Math, she sure does take her good old time. I have to nag her even more than usual it seems. She purposely lets things slide, then gets all mad at me for mentioning it. (sounds familiar actually)

Sarah is also going through that brain-dead teen phase like Addison did. *sigh* I hope she snaps out of it soon. Next year (for school) we will have to do some things different, and I will have to ride her hard I think, just because I know I slack off sometimes, and I know it will do her good.

I’m trying to reorganize and re-prioritize my days here. Stuff switches a little anyway in the summer, since it is hot and all. I need to get running around stuff done earlier and do computer stuff later, when it is hot and I am lazing around anyway. Also I need to get used to going outsdie. And doing it in the morning. I’m also behind in email. I go online to check out “just a couple things” and wind up losing a half-hour or so. Then something comes up or I don’t feel like dealing with the emails. I’m using the net to distract myself from reality.

See? I learned that from Dr. Phil. Some (okay all) of the stuff makes total sense, and I sorta knew it already, but when a total stranger is telling you exactly what you need to hear (and sounds just like your husband to boot) it’s kinda spooky.

Duty calls.

sad

This was my grandparents house, the one I practically grew up in. I wish I had some pictures (or a scanner) to show you how it used to be, how homey and sweet and full of love.

Now it just looks like crap. Don’t forget to click on the Additional photos link.

My Big Fat Irish Butt

I rented My Big Fat Greek Wedding over the weekend. Change the ethnic group and the food, and you have my family. Cute movie.

Anyway, got a pile of things to do but didn’t sleep well because of the heat. It’s pretty chilly out today though! So, you know, I have “stuff” to do. (rolls eyes)

The wonky stuff you are seeing (if you are seeing it) will be fixed later (whenever that is). If the sidebar is way at the bottom, it is an IE thingy and I can’t quite figure out where I made a boo-boo when I changed the template. Looks great in what I’m using though! :D

I knew I shoulda just changed my own CSS file instead if using theirs…

okay, so it is early

But I had time to tinker on the new layout for July! And I uploaded it. I still need to fix the archives and the comments, but my eyes are bugging out.

It is 30 degrees outside. Ick.
