Finally he’s back to work.

There are fresh potatoes and a squash on the counter with a note:

“I go really well with a roast or pork chops”

Think that’s a hint for supper?

Anyway, I’ve had escapades with my nose lately because of the temp changes and maybe there’s some pollen around. Totally messes with my (and Emma’s) sleep schedule because I have explosive sneezes. I had a headache when I went to bed, and I had it when I woke up. Starting to fade now with the help of two ibuprofen and a cup of tea. (oh! and a fudgsicle) Have to finish up our exhibits for the Exhibition and take them over today, so I may be pretty quiet. See what Ron is entering over here.

And adding to my to-do list, I really need to whip up a fall layout. I know, Fall already? I need to decide between this photo and this one. Note to self: write that “Not back to school” article for Bread n’ Molasses.

and even more photos

Tons up in the gallery. You can see orange pumpkins in the garden folder, even one of the garden from the rooftop, Ron’s series of sunflower photos, a folder of Emma, and one of photos she took.

Enjoy!

from the Emerald Isle

Some of you know that half my family is Irish, and with that in mind (and for family!) my aunt (from the English side, go figure) emailed me to pass on the info that the Jeanie Johnston is currently in Saint John and will be making its way to here, the Miramichi on Sept 6-9.

This is a replica of a ship built in Quebec in 1847, and the following year was sold and began the first of 16 voyages across the Atlantic, bringing with it hundreds of Irish immigrants escaping the Great Potato Famine.

I’ve seen what blight can do to a potato crop these days, and it isn’t pretty. And if that don’t bring a tear to yer eye, I leave ya wit one of me favorite songs, sung with no music, and a clear, high lilting voice. Lament of the Irish Immigrant

Oh, to be able to put some sound files on here, I’d sing ya a bit.

Short one

Have to do a quick one tonight because I have blood work at the hospital in the morning and quite a bit of other stuff to do tonight.

My glasses arrived today and I am wearing them some to get adjusted.

Anyway, what I thought of this morning was something from Junior High. When I went to JH, I had a home room that consisted of grades 6 thru 8. And I had the same home room for all 3 years. My experience in that environment is that it was much better than home room with 25 people your age. We didn’t have a cafeteria so we ate lunch together every day. There was little bullying which went on because the 8th graders considered themselves the overseers of the group. At the same time, they made every attempt to portray as much maturity as possible and did not bully the remainder of the group.

Second to that, every week we had a 1 class elective (say 3 electives a year) where there were students from grades 6 to 9.

I think it made an amazing difference in the social fabric of the school.

Why? Because I could, I guess.

There’s a new forum set up over here. Play nice, and we’ll see how it works out.

Why did I do it? Who knows, I mean, I am already involved in tons of online stuff already. :)
