Rough

As if you couldn’t tell, it’s been a bit of a rough week or so here. Not horrible, but one of the kinds where the thought of the weekend just fills you with bliss.

Ron’s been finishing up at work, and that’s rough on him. I can’t really say much more than that. We’re both looking forward to him being home all summer.

Addison has been going to bed early and getting up maybe a half-hour before Buddy* comes and gets him for work. He looks tired & sore. He’s been getting some good stories, though, about the one-armed man he had to mow the sloping parts of his lawn for, and his neighbour, a lady who would get really mad if they mowed her flowers or messed up her yard art. Earlier this week, Addison said they raked up a half-acre of rocks out of someone’s yard. The next day they picked up the piles and dumped them somewhere. All seventy of them.

But he’s earning reall honest-to-goodness money! So he’s happy. And we’re happy to see him at the end of the day.

* not Buddy’s real name, just what you call someone here.

Oh, me? Well, the dentist was fun. They’re going to name the room after us. I told him how my jaw aches more from the injections they give me, than the actual dental work. He explained it was muscle spasms and tried a new freezing to avoid that, but it wasn’t as strong. It didn’t work well on me (understatement), so he gave me the regular stuff too. I guess my new filling is pink, but I haven’t looked. I can’t open my mouth that far yet.

Not good ideas – looking at books in the waiting room that explain dental work. Aslo, thinking about scary books to avoid being terrified by the dentist.

But he’s good, and I lived. Plus it didn’t hurt much after the freezing really kicked in.

I spent a good portion of the afternoon yesterday, once the stuff mostly wore off, under a couple of blankets on the couch, trying to get warm. And that was when I wasn’t falling asleep. Advil made it somewhat better, though, and when Emma crashed good and early for a change, Ron sent me off to bed too.

I feel much better today, so the end is in sight. I even had to wake Emma up, lest hse sleep too long and mess up today.

The cupboards are bare again (and I mean *bare*) so we’re getting groceries this morning. And it’s pay week! Whee! So we’re doing some other shopping for necessary items this afternoon, instead of doing everything then. I still have to go for my walk, but I’m going to see if I can work some off shopping first.

See how I totally talked myself out of going for a walk at 9 am?
