Good (late) morning

There’s an email sitting in my inbox (along with the other 126) with the subject, “It’s 10:10″ from my mother. Inside it says, “do you know where your daily blog is? Enquiring minds are waiting.”

I guess that was a hint to hurry up and update. Then she *called* me. After telling her that, no, in fact there wasn’t anything really new to talk about, I asked her what I should write about.

The fact she’s having a Groundhog Day party that might be grown-ups only? Even Carl thought the kids would want to go. The children are crushed at the mere suggestion.

I could write about how we stayed at my grandparents instead of a hotel, the first time I had slept over there in… in… twenty? Twenty-five years? A long time. Without a bunch of people around, they are far less crazy than I remember. Odd. Everything is so clean there. One of the kids whispered soemthing about how clean it was and I told them that dirt was afraid to come in. Mom told me after we left, they called her (since they are her parents) and talked for an hour and a half about how fabulous the kids are.

I could write about how my mother slips things into conversation, like how she might be promising my brother her Christmas dishes, because according to HIM I have everything else. Except for the garnet & ruby rings she promised me which are now going to my girls, but I won’t mention those, WILL I MOM?

She also thinks I should say something about the two other kids in my house – what are their names again? – the ones with all the bracelets and lip gloss. Last count, Meaghan had 81. I was going to blog the breaking news when she told me she had 77, but the total kept going up. She’s cleaning out her huge closet this week. I’m trying to avoid looking. Sarah keeps practising angsty teen rebellion songs on the guitar. We haven’t had a concert yet.

I culd talk about Carl coming over to install my under-counter radio he & Mom got me for Christmas. We could have done it ourselves, but he likes to do Shop things with my kids, so what else could I say? I had to let him do it with the girls helping.

I could talk about going to writer’s group last night with nothing to share, except for the realization after I got home that my hair was a mess. I guess that really convinced them Life Has Been Rough lately.

Eh, I’ll think of something to write about eventually.

Sometimes this type of post is just what you need to get it all off your chest and admit you have nothing to say right how!
Was that 81 bracelets or lip gloss? My 12-year-old spends some of her allowance $$ on new lip gloss EVERYTIME SHE IS IN A STORE! I’m afraid to count! Hang in there and keep writing ~ the inspiration will come!

Hello and greetings from the UK. My dad (Mike Elliott) has told me that you’re my 4th cousin! I’m Simon by the way, the eldest of Mike’s sons. He showed me your blog yesterday and I thought it’d be good to say hello from across the pond. I have just set up a WordPress blog too so it was cool to see you using the same! You can find mine at http://www.sionide.net/wp/ – Hope to hear from you soon.
