Said it before, I’ll say it again:

I love Emma’s dentist.

Uncle John, the singing dentist, is hands-down the best pediatric dentist in town. In fact, he is the best dentist I have ever seen, period. And I’ve been to a lot.

I told Emma she had to go see the dentist for a quick check-up and she jumped up and down, hollering, “OH BOY!” And he loves her just as much in return. When he said he’d treat her like she was one of his own, I didn’t doubt it, because he does. He even *listens* to her and asks her questions. He loves that she’s homeschooled and asked her today how school was going. When the assitant said something like, “really?” he turned to her and went on and on how smart Emma was because she’s homeschooled.

Emma even shared seating in the waiting room, offering seats to some other children who were too shy to sit with her. When she left, she handed over a stuffed dog to another little girl and told them it was fun seeing the dentist and the doggie would help her feel better. She got two packs of special teeth-cleaning gum, a new toothbrush in pink (“My favorite!” she said,) AND a replacement mirror. Her eyes went really wide when she told uncle John how she broke, then lost, the last one he gave her.

We were in and out of there, literally, within 30 minutes. Added bonus: as a post-op check-up it didn’t cost a dime.

A good dentist is worth his weight in gold! I had to go to the dentist today too, for an emergency re-gluing of my bridge. He fit me in when there was a cancellation. My health benefits haven’t started yet so he didn’t charge me! Of course I should add that his father was my dentist back in the 60′s so we’re practically family. I was back to work in one hour, too.
