The boy had a tough day at work

Addison came in the door late yesterday, all sweaty and dirty, and when I greeted him and asked how his day went, he glared and me and said, “Don’t ask.”

Of course you can’t say something like that and expect to walk away! :)

He works for a yard maintenance company, and his boss picks him up whenever he’s needed. I guess he’s been having trouble with vehicles lately, because yesterday he showed up in a very large container truck.

Shortly after they left here, they were almost at an intersection when the truck lurched heavily to one side. Ahead of them, a tire rolled by and into a nearby parking lot. A second tire from the same side of the truck followed shortly after that. Weirdly enough, one of the tires went into the parking lot, around a building and almost out the other side, back to the truck.

Apparently it was “cool”.

They got the van towed, got another vehicle from the boss’s wife who couldn’t stop laughing, and proceeded to do a whole two lawns, one of which was 2 acres and took three guys a total of four hours.

When he got dropped off yesterday, he told his boss, “Whatever you’re paying me, it’s not enough.”

This morning his boss called and asked for him. When I asked him if he was coming to pick him up, he said, “yeah, I guess so.” He was at the mechanics with the truck. Four hours later, Addison comes back looking for lunch and they haven’t even done a lawn yet, which makes Addison grumpy as he gets paid by the hours he spend on the job, not driving around.

Does Addison read my rantings about annoying customers at work?? Work sucks! They should just give us money for doing nothing, it’d be sooo much simpler! ;)

yeah it kind of sux when they say yes come to owrk and don’t pay you till you start working on the lawn. bit of a rip off if you ask me. if you are out and about for 8 hrs ‘working’ for said company one should be paid for it.

    just my humble opinion.

ps. i have a birthday invitation for emma here for asa’s party on sat. weather permitting.

Although it sounds like a rough day for a teen, it is kind of hilarious to picture a tire doing that whole thing! I shouldn’t speak lightly , since I’ve been hexed by the car spirits lately.

our teens have been grumbling about work lately too… amelia says its easy but boring, and why should she ruin her summer with work, so her plan is to quit her job (at the local grocery store) at the end of june… (she is 18) dorothy is 21, and hated retail so much she started her own business working as a “personal assistant” for different families (she cooks, cleans, sews, gardens, gets groceries, whatever) and gets $10 per hour… her customers love her and are begging her to do more hours… this is how she makes enough money to pay for her tuition at university (one course at a time)… I provide the free room and board!
