Stuff in my head

Darn it, I forgot. My writing time got thrown off because of a variety of things. Emma squeezed herself in here and spent too much time at Disney. If she figures out how to shop online, we’re goners. Then I distracted her with the Incredibles site, which kept her busy for a half hour, but she changed my desktop.
Ron slept in since his sinuses were bugging him, Addison had to be shuffled out the door, laundry had to be done, then before I knew it I had to feed people. Add in a walk, and you’re left like me: wondering where the day went already.

I walked!

No lie, I finally took a good walk today, all the way from the mall, where I went to get myself a new (cheap) CD walkman. We is too poor to afford dem high-falutin’ MP3 player thingys, even tho I would be walkin’ for hours if I had one. :P

And the fact that the store I went into “just for a second” had a brand-new and expanded scrapbooking/papercraft section, was not a bad thing, really. I can quit any time. It was only 20 minutes. There was a line, I swear, and I really needed replacement blades for my shape cutter.

Got some pics from the weekend. Ron the Man has been working up a storm improving the yard, so I’ll post them later. Got some surfing designing to do, some blog tinkering and I have to go through my archives for potential home-ed articles for publication.

Housework? Who said anything about housework?

Man, I have to get cracking

The Boss Man left me a pile of papers on the computer, where he knew I’d see it. I whipped up a page about my writing, did my morning surf, and I’m still in my jammies.
In typing up the places where my articles are published, I realized I have to get a move on with submitting some. And polishing a few up – time to make another list!

Oh, and get dressed. Can’t take on the world in a nightshirt.

Weekend update

Hmm, well, nothing terribly earth-shaking to report from the weekend. It rained, then it rained some more.
The mystery of the guy in my driveway? Apparently there was a yard sale at the end of the road. The end opposite to where I am, since I’m on the corner. And since I am on the corner and facing the *other* road, oyu would be surprised at the amount of people who assume that since my driveway open onto the side road that our address must be there.

End rant.

My friend Sylvia, who should live closer to me, dropped by on Friday with a Tupperware catalog, some knitting machine pamhlets and a container of sourdough starter. I love Sylvia. She left with some paperwhite, lily of the valley and irises.

The dining room / office is now really clean and somewhat organized and I am again reminded I have Far Too Much Stuff.

Sunday we were completely lazy. We went to Mom’s for supper and had roast pork and stuff. Addison finally came home from yet another canoe trip and was once again moderatlye soggy. And cranky.

Today? I am tinkering with other people’s layout and re-working my Pumpkin theme, just in case you use it and things go awry. They already have once today.

Sunday, May 22, 2005 in books, some sort of meme

Book meme!

(I started this yesterday)
Aw man, I take a break from cleaning the massive black hole of chaos that is the dining room to find that Kim has done gone and tagged me.

1) Total books owned, ever:
Oh wow. Half my relatives reading this are rolling their eyes. I still have almost all my childhood books, and I’ve been collecting antique children’s books and old schoolbooks. I’d say at least 500 and probably more. In the room I’m in, I’m sure there’s a hundred books here.

ETA: Now that I’ve re-read the question and done a better estimate (I actually counted all the books in one bookcase), I figure there’s at least a thousand books in the house right now, and we’ve easily owned five times that total. (Yes, Ron is right once again, and no he never tires of hearing that.)

2) Last book I bought:
New? I mostly buy second hand books, and I bought a pile last week at yard sales. Trashy romance & thriller novels. The last books I bought new were for Chritmas presents.

3) Last book I read: Hot & Bothered, I forgot to post that I finished another one. I’m also still reading How to be Good (actually I put it down) and Long After Midnight, a thriller.

4) Five books that mean a lot to me:
Winnie The Pooh
A Bear Called Paddington
Jane Eyre
The Sword of Shannara
The Bible
Hey, it was hard to narrow it down.

I have to think about who to pass the torch on to. Any volunteers?
