TV night!

So, since most of us were just sick enough to sit around in a stupor, we watched tv! And not just children’s programming.

It was Canadianna night as we enjoyd The Degrassi Story (like we didn’t know) and the Terry Fox movie, which I thought would be boring, but it wasn’t. Even if I did expect him to say “Mr Frodo,” at any second.

Also, I got Ron to take me to the mall, which wiped me out again (I spent a lot of time napping yesterday) and we got some books from an annual sale set up. No fiction, *sigh*, as that would have required more than our budget and a large cardboard box (or three) to get all I would want. We got five or six educational theory books instead. Oh, and I did get a book on Logic, and when I showed it to Sarah, she went, “Sweeeet.” Only in a homeschool, folks.

Emma and Meaghan feel better, which is good. From the mall trip we came back with some much needed construction paper (oops, add that to my huge total) and Emma spent a lot of time making stuff, including with my help. Here’s some ideas:

Using a blue sheet for the background, cut out some green land, a black tree trunk and oodles of fall leaves. Hand your kid a glue stick and watch them create a nice picture.

Fold a sheet in half and cut out a bird on the fold. Hang from a string. Emma discovered on her own that if you make many tiny cuts along the edge of the paper, it looks feathery. Put on a bird play. She started this one on her own, using a whole rectangle for a bird, and it kept her busy for at least an hour, with minimal interference from me.

Today, let’s hope I continue to recover, as I have a homeschooling parent’s meeting tomorrow night to prep for. Oy.

We had TV night last night, too. We were all exhausted and so Sage picked up a few movies. We all chose “The Sword in the Stone” which I had never seen and enjoyed far more than I thought I would. However, by 8:00 I was sound asleep on the couch and stumbled into bed a few minutes later. I feel like I’m finally rested for the first time in about a week.

Glad you guys are starting to feel better. Don’t be like Sage and take on a million things the minute you start to feel better and end up getting yourselves sick again. It’s okay to relax a few days when you start to feel well also.

How did you know I’d be just like Sage in that regard?
Well, we cancelled Sunday Dinner anyway.

I can tell – you like to be busy and productive as does Sage. As soon as she is able to move after being sick she’s up and about and usually back in bed the next day.

Ah, so you were doing quiet sicktime preschool activities like cutting shapes? I know it is mostly you being sick now, but don’t you wonder at those novels that talk about sending kids to their bed for the day at the first sign of the sniffles? I have never seen a kid with a temp. lower than 101 laying around when sick.
