It occured to me over the weekend, that as much as I have sewn and quilted and made stuff, poor Emma was left bereft of a Mommy-made quilt. The fact she has (practically) dozens of quilts made by family members – mostly grandmas, mostly crib size – is completely irrelevant. She needed a mommy-made one and a “soft” one to boot.
So Sunday night I raided my mom’s quilt stash. Yes, I know I just cleaned out my own stash and dropped it off at her house. Maybe we should just call it a Fabric Exchange Program?
At any rate, I brought home a plastic bag with enough fabric to make two twin-size quilt tops. One in three kinds of pink flannelette – checks, floral and a Betty Boop print, and another in four solids (red, yellow, blue green) and three matching prints – one check, one dots like planets, and one buggy.
Think I can get them done before Christmas?
(Me neither.)

What a lucky girl! I’d never get it done by Christmas, though! I’ll be rooting for you!
I wouldn’t get it done til next Christimas!!!
Actually, I don’t quilt, but have always wanted to learn. What would you suggest as a simple beginner-type project?
Yup, you can do it. Just remember to take bits of it with you everywhere and use your inner hyperchick to always keep those hands flying!I’m assuming there is some handwork involved in quilting. Never really did it.
She’ll love it. If it’s not done, just wrap up what you have and tell her afterward that you need to add a few more touches. She’ll just be happy as a clam to have a quilt made by you! And you are the best mother ever!!!!
