Happy birthday to me

Today is my birthday and I turn 36, which is on the downward slide to 40.

I thought about this and also about all the “being 40″ things I have read and seen on tv. You know what I mean, like “Next on Oprah: Women Who Are 40 and Fabulous!”

This is also sometimes known as Women of a Certain Age. I’ve read about them – they are having a fabulous time, doing wonderful, amazing things, and looking really good while doing it. Look at all the over-40 celebrities out there. They don’t look like short dumpy housewives, no sir. Heck, I wanna look like that. (The over-40 celebrity look, sans the plastic surgery, that is. The dumpy housewife look I already got covered.)

Even Ron, who turned 40 last year, is having a good time. He got himself a cushy new job, a snappy new (to him) car, and of course the Trophy Wife. (That’d be me.)

Nope, it’s my birthday, I turn 36 and I don’t feel bad about it at all. Why? Because I wanna be 40. You gals look like you’re having the time of your life. I can’t wait.

Happy Birthday from someone who’s on the ‘other’ side of 40.

  6. JoVE says:

I’m on the other side of 40 too. the one downside you can’t avoid is that you start needing reading glasses. I keep losing mine, which is a royal PITA. (the upside is that this is no fault of your own but just some magic that happens when you are 40).

    Happy Birthday.

  7. Meg L. says:

Reading glasses are totally a pill. I’ve been in the middle of a dragon cross-stitch for my ds for years because it’s getting harder and harder to deal with it.

OTH, I went to monovision contact lenses (I was near-sighted already) and they are great.

  8. Andrea says:

    Well, I’m already terribly nearsighted…

  9. Carrie K. says:

Happy Birthday from someone who’s following along three years behind you!

Nabbed your site from the WP forums!

So… old lady… ;) what advice have you got for a girl who’s turning 29 tomorrow, and swears that this will be the last ever birthday to be celebrated!?

I’m telling you – next year is only going to be the 1 year anniversary of my 29th birthday… I swear!

  12. Spunky says:

Getting older is a privilege. Just think how many don’t make it that far. I’m 43 and I don’t feel a day over 43. I love my age and my time in life.

  13. izzy says:

You’re still a baby! Feliz cumpleaños, Andrea.

  14. Christina says:

Hey, Andrea. I’ll be 35 this July. I enjoyed turning 30 and I’m sure I’ll love being 40 as well. Happy Birthday, hope you had a great day!

Happy Birthday! I’m 34 and think that (so far) this decade has been the best of my life. I agree with you, Andrea. If it only gets better from here, bring it on!

Hope you had a lovely day.

Happy Birthday Andrea:) You’re right on about the 40′s not looking so bad, that’s what I have to keep telling myself since it’s only 3 years away, lol.
