You know, I’ve been meaning to write for months about the new recycling program we have and how much it cut down on our garbage. What better day to talk about it. Now that we sort, we’ve cut our weekly garbage load to one bag. That’s for six people. Sometimes we do some heavy cleaning and sorting and get up to two bags.
Emma, naturally, loves to recycle. She’ll help me sort it all, saying she’ll helping keep the rivers clean.
Today she’s made a to-do list for herself and Daddy. It had pictures and letters in close approximation of words. Later, she checked off the things she did. Laundry, hug mommy, clean my room, eat breakfast.
Too cute!
Also, Ron came home with a new Shop Vac. “Happy Mother’s Day!” he hollered when he lugged it inside.
I raised my eyebrow at him. “You’re getting an embroidery machine for Father’s Day, then.”
“Figured.”

Oh, you gotta love the fact most men’s brains go on sabbatical when it comes to gift giving! Last year I received a vacuum for Valentine’s Day. He said, “I picked the red one for you”
Talking as though we are going to get each other gifts like that is a running joke between us
