Answers and stuff

What the kids are up to:

Addison – working, new video game, filling out student loan application.

Sarah – currently sleeping, also staying up too late, playing guitar, figuring out how to fit life around work.

Meaghan – reading all the Royal Diaries novels we own (8), keeping Emma busy, going on walks.

Emma – water balloons, jumping on the bed, Polly Pockets, making tissue paper flowers, waiting for her grandmother to pick her up at 2 o’clock, opening the window to holler at Strawberry Guy across the street.

And on to the questions – The house thing. We weren’t looking at buying yet, we were looking at renting a house so we could all go. We couldn’t find one. So Ron rented a 2 bedroom apartment, after he was done staying with my aunt, who is having company all summer. And a big head-nodding YES to Heidi’s house-and-travelling reasoning.

Our house isn’t ready to sell yet because we are trying to finish all the renovations here so we won’t lose (a lot of) money on it. When it is ready, we will put it on the market and try very hard to sell it. Then we will (seriously) look for a house to buy over there. Naturally, we have our eye on a couple maybes, but it’s too early to get our hearts set on anything. And Ron is in a temporary office, so we don’t want to settle in one spot only to have the company move the office twenty minutes down the road.

Addison is all done with health issues, at least I hope. One checkup for his eyes in November, so that’s a wait-and-see. College starts for him the first week of September, we still have to find a place for him to stay down there.

Adaptations: oh man, what an adjustment. I think – no, I know – Ron and I are having the hardest time, juggling so many balls in the air without each other around for support. Emma is second, with my mom coming in a close third. (heh.) The two girls are next but far behind, and Addison just has his eyes on college, so he’s fine. ;)

Meanwhile, the juggling continues as today I get the house ready for Ron to come home and clear things off my to-do list so I can help him tackle his list over the weekend.

  1. Heidi says:

As I skimmed the last paragraph, I parsed “I can help tackle him.” But knowing you two the small way that I do, that’s prolly the wonderful unwritted top of every To-Do list. ;)

Our across-the-street homeschooling neighbors are moving “sometime” as the dad has a new job two hours away. They are rotating who stays with dad and friends and who stays in our town, as they have five kids and the neighbor parents don’t want to continually overwhelm their gracious hosts in New Town.
