A modern day fairy tale: Geeks in love

Once upon a time, there was a girl. This girl was a bit of a geek, so she went to college and signed up for a Computer Programming course. She met a guy, who was also a bit of a geek and who happened to be in the second year of the same program. They fell in love, got married and had four geeky kids, although not necessarily in that order. The happily ever after part is still happening. (Most days.)

Well, that geeky couple had a boy. And he grew and he grew and he grew. (Really, he ate quite a lot.) He also spent a good deal of time in front of one of their many computers. He grew and he grew until he grew right up. Then he went to that same college, where he took the exact same Computer Programming course his parents took.

And he met a girl.
Who was in the second year of the same course.
Who was just like him, only female.
Who fit right in with the rest of his family.

So he did the only thing he could, really. He asked her to marry him.

And she said yes.
(In retrospect, it was pretty much inevitable.)

  1. I was going to add some details, but I’ll leave that to whatever half of the happy couple gets to it first. In between all that scholwork, the heavy course load, and the looking at each other with goo-goo eyes while they watch Star trek: TNG on DVD. 😀

  2. Aww, lookit all the happy people. Now I can’t stop smiling.

    SQUEE!
I wonder if Addison’s seen this yet. Andrea, we need to post pictures of my engagement ring, LAWL! I know Mum’s anxious to see it, too.

  3. That is pretty cool. But doesn’t it feel a little weird that he is so grown up that he has not onlly gone off to college but is getting engaged? We’re freaking out that Tigger is going to be 10.

All I can say is that I hope he and his girl are as obviously in love 20 years down the road as you and Ron are now.

  4. Congrats – does that mean you might be a great grandmother by 60 if your children and their children follow you and Ron! Look forward to meeting newest about to be member when next in your area.
