Our niece, Betty Jo would like to know how pingbacks work in blogging. See, if I write a post in my Wordpress-powered blog and link to her post, she automagically recieves a comment-like notification that I have done so. If you click through the link above, you’ll see it at the bottom of her entry. In other blogging software, you may need to fill out a field labelled “trackback”. The person on the recieving ends gets a pingback.
Hope that clears that up.
p.s. – do doo do dooo!
p.s.s. – also you have to make sure you’ve enabled it in the backend, under the Options menu somewhere. (They keep moving stuff around.) Otherwise, in WP, you can edit an entry and make sure the “Allow pings” box is ticked in the Discussion menu on the right side.
Hey, Thanks! Now I know! Oh and the first pingback I got, was me! lol! Please bear with me as I slowly enter the technological era.
