No really, we did.
I know! For weeks I have hardly anything to talk about, things are in a standstill, then suddenly stuff happens so fast I barely have time to tell people. And in case you think we are *really* nuts, the closing date is when I will be just about recovered from the surgery I’m having on Friday. (I explained that here if you missed it.)
Our financing is already in place and approved, since we realized we had some wiggle room and could buy a cheap house before we sold this one (the green one). It was getting awfully hard on us all, seeing Ron only on weekends and him trying to finish off any work to be done. So this way, we can move most of our stuff (and us) over to the red house, then he can still come back and work on the green house on weekends. Except he’ll have seen us all week and we won’t be underfoot while he works.
Then when we get that on the market and sold, we can settle into the red house, and get cracking on the work to be done there. Gee, you think we really liked renovating or something.
Someday soon I am going to tell you the full story of the red house, but for now I have a bajillion things to do.

Congratulations!!! The house looks perfect for you. I know you’ll be very happy there.
Green with envy! What a gorgeous house!!! And so much room! Just how many stairways are there, anyway? Bedrooms? It looks so fun! Enjoy!!! And hey, does this mean we’re neighbors now?
I love that house! Gorgeous! I’ll be curious to see any pics you post along the way to being fininshed. I hope all this isn’t going to be too much for YOU, though. You make sure you don’t over-do things..
The very best part about the house is that it is so close to me
Congrats, it is good to hear you will all get to be together again, I can’t imagine how hard the last year+ has been being apart. We have ogled all your house pictures and are way jealous. We are so much alike with the remodeling obsession!
Holy cow. Of the many beautiful (and potentially beautiful) things in your new house, I covet the tin ceilings the most. We’d like to put tin up in the kitchen.
What a great place. Do take care, though. I don’t see you as one content to recover peacefully. Someone may have to prop you up on pillows in a corner with saw horses, reclaimed moulding and a sander (…and a webcam).
Thinking of you.
It’s beautiful, Andrea. Congrats to you and Ron!
Oh my goodness! It is wonderful! Lots of nooks and crannies. And I love, love, love the porch. You have such unique houses up there. I live outside Washington DC and most of the houses are these cookie cutter McMansions. For outrageous amounts.
We were able to find a cute place…built in 1940 and added onto in the 90s. It has a lot of neat unique features that I like about it. And a huge backyard.
Congrats.
Oh I totally forgot to mention it has 5 bedrooms, 3 full baths, 2 staircases, 2 living rooms AND a family room, all on one country acre. I am still astounded.
I can also get to my Aunt Boo’s in 20-30 minutes.
I can’t stand McMansions either, Steph, and Natalie our digital camera does video, so expect to see some coming whenever.
Andrea,
Your house is amazing. I wish we could find one just like that. I would love to fix it up. I hope you recover quickly from you surgury so you can get to work.
My mom had a hysterectomy a couple years ago and the poor thing had everything go wrong, but now that she’s recovered she’s a very happy girl!
I would die of shock if my husband came home and told me he bought me something like that. There is no way we could afford a house that looked like that. You GO, girl! I can’t wait to hear the story. Hope you are getting well and feeling better soon. I have heard that it is not a quick recovery getting the H-thing done.
Sorry for your pain!
