My clothesline is up!

Ron finished it off in the heat last night (and we didn’t kill each other – at least not then). It runs from a nice spot off the back porch all the way to the pole in middle of the yard. I figure I can get a good three loads of clothes on it. The part by the house has one of those adjustable things so I can raise and lower the pulley on this end. By bringing out a table or chair to sit a basket on, it will be really easy for me to hang out clothes without bending or stretching.

Yeah, I’m still having surgery-related issues with the bending and the stretching. Oh, and lifting.

Anyway – the clothesline is great. I only have one issues. When we packed up the house, every clothespin I found I made sure I put them all in one spot. They migrated all over the place with the laundry and by the end, I only had half a bag hanging out there. When I packed it, I had a big ol’ fat clothespin bag.

Except now I can’t find it.

  1. Why the clothesline? I’ve been thinking about putting one up for environmental reasons.

  2. Andrea says:

    Well, why not? :D

    - it save energy
    - it makes the clothes smell nicer
    - the clothes FEEL better
    - less chemicals used on the clothes (if you use dryer sheets or things to “cure” static from the dryer)
    - sun kills bacteria on the clothes
    - plus all those environmental reasons (ie; energy use as above plus you’re not pumping all that lint outside)

And, well, it was how we were both raised. It’s just what people did. :)

  3. I absolutely LOVE a clothesline!

We moved into our new house last Halloween, and I haven’t gotten mine up yet….had to wait for yardwork to be completed. :( But when I do, I am SOO getting one of those kits. My Grammy used to have one….it always made me feel like I was “hoisting up the main sail”. LOL. Another good tip (you prob do this already) is to run your line through two wheels on your outside pole. It helps stop sheets, etc.. from getting all tangled up on a windy day.

Nothing like the smell of fresh sheets just off the line! Enjoy!

So THIS is where Addison gets his aversion to fabric softner! When he does the laundry it feels like the clothes have been starched :S
