I’ve had to do that as well — the more pg I get the less books I can carry for the kids! I think we need to add as well -or than you can remember to take back-.
The thing that really pushed it over the edge was Emma insisted on lugging *all* her library books in a bag, up the stairs, with no help, right at bedtime.
We make our trips to the library with a large bundle-buggy of the sort that can hold 10+ bags of groceries. On a big trip we might bring back over 100 books and head home with just as many. The librarians jokingly hide when they see us coming as they know it means checking in a ton of books - really, though, they’re thrilled to see avid readers, particularly those in the next generation. If I restricted Paul to as many books as he could carry there would be mutiny, I think!
Our library allows 60 books out at a time. Per card. The kids and I have three cards among us (CHG is on his own) so that allows us 180 books. I just checked and we’re at 37+31+52=120. We’re only at 2/3 capacity.
We’re in the throes of rearranging here, so we now have a bookcase dedicated to just library books and school texts. The three-shelf unit is almost full.

Per visit, that is.
Girl’s response is ‘that is why you get bags’ lol.
We have these nice beige ones that Hubby keeps bringing back from conventions and they become our go everywhere and grab bags.
