Per card. The kids and I have three cards among us (CHG is on his own) so that allows us 180 books. I just checked and we're at 37+31+52=120. We're only at 2/3 capacity. ;) We're in the throes of rearranging here, so we now have a bookcase dedicated to just library books and school texts. The three-shelf unit is almost full. On a big trip we might bring back over 100 books and head home with just as many. The librarians jokingly hide when they see us coming as they know it means checking in a ton of books - really, though, they're thrilled to see avid readers, particularly those in the next generation.
