An up-date: Foggy Cat is selling well...in fact out of 1000 printed there are only 200 left. This is surprising as it is not in the big bookstores, only the independent ones. No second printing as they are into the publication of the next winner. How it all started: In the summer of 2006 I entered a writing contest for a baby book for the Born To Read Program, which places books in NB hospitals for new-borns to take home with them. The program was started by one woman in St.Stephen, Shirley Downey, and has spread nationwide. The launch was held in Fredericton at the Lieutenant-Governor's house, as he, Hermenegilde Chiasson, is the honourary Chair of Born To Read. The illustrations are by Robert Lyon who is a wildlife artist living in Sackville, NB. The publisher is the Early Childhood Centre of the University of New Brunswick where out-of-province people can purchase a copy. Trivia: Neither Robert's cat nor mine is an orange tabby!
