My neighbours have lost their front steps again

We just got cleaned up from a snowstorm a couple days ago and we got dumped on again overnight. Ron left for work an hour and a half late. No worries though, as he called ahead and found out hardly anyone else was there. :D He had been shovelling since he got up at six.

Yesterday Emma & Daddy started work on a snow fort, so they are both excited about the snow. Added bonus is it acts for insulation around the base of the house and over any shallow waste pipes in the ground.

I can get excited about it because I rarely go out in it. If the widn dies down, I might go out on a photo hunt. The drift pattenrs are amazingly cool.

Sarah is a little disgruntled I think, as we were supposed to get the car today and go to the library. Instead, Dad woke her up to aks her about the library books that needed to go back. He was quite laden down with five bags of books. “Are these all library books,” he asked me, quite incredulously. Usually by the time he gets home, our library stashes are spread out. (and besides, some of the stash was movies and CDs. ;) )

I swear, some of the piles out there are waist-high.

I don’t like going out in the cold, but I do enjoy the beauty of freshly fallen snow. By a day or two later though it has turned to grayish-brown muck on the roads and creeps into the front yards, and everything looks so dirty. It’s bitterly cold here right now so new snow would stay pretty for a while, but I’d rather it be warm and all melt away. Spring is pretty too!

Greg worked all day yesterday cleaning up from New Year’s Eve. He even cleared of a patch of ice. Poor guy – he’s just getting started at it again. And he’s not sure he has enough gas in the snowblower. We might be calling in a plow truck for this one. The drive way is too long to do it by shovel only.

We are allowed 60 items on a card, and only 3 at a time can be VHS/DVD.

But we have three cards among me and the kids. One time, we did max out with 180 items in our possession.

Sigh. Our pile isn’t that high and yet we STILL have a $40+ library fine. I’ve got to get these books back to the library!!! Something always seems to come up. And I’ve got to get that fine pd too or we won’t be able to get more books. THAT would be bad, very very bad!!!

I havent; maxed out our cards yet, but we have spread out those limits. There’s four cards between us. ;) I’m kinda too scared to try, becasue that’s a LOT of stuff to keep track of. :-/

Anyone use libraryelf.com? It looks awesome, but our province is the only one (other than Quebec) that isn’t hooked in to it.
