Sitemeter is crashing the Internet - in IE only
If you’ve been wandering around online since sometime yesterday and wonder why some sites were down and some were not, I can tell you why.
Seems that a popular stats tracking code called SiteMeter made some changes and now everyone who uses their code (like me) has a site that won’t work in Internet Explorer. It’s been at least 12 hours and even the main SiteMeter site is down.
Well, only in IE.
On top of the oddness, there’s nothing on the Sitemeter site about it.
If you have SiteMeter code on your own blog, you might want to remove it until this is all fixed.

Not working in IE could be considered a feature, not a bug

Oh well THAT is annoying. But it also goes to show that IE should be made illegal.
Also, COD’s comment made me laugh.

Mine doesn’t crash in IE. So is it fixed, or is it just the way mine’s configured? I never looked at my blog in IE before. Blech. My sitemeter is invisible. They did put out a blurb about icons, but didn’t read it since I don’t use one.

Yeah, I’m wondering if it’s not some sort of convoluted point.
Also, it’s the javascript version of the code doing it, not the HTML version.

…People still use IE? Well, I guess they’ve really got no-one but themselves to blame, do they?
