Brain over occupied
Random conversations:
Dad: I think it’s going to rain today, my weather senses are tingling.
Meaghan: did you get bit by a weatherman?
Mom was on the phone asking Emma if she needed new clothes.
Emma: I need new pants, ones with expandable waistlines.
Meaghan and I were watching the Food network. Specifically French food at home, where she was making a fish dish.
Me: Is she cooking that just for the halibut?
Meaghan: Good one mom.
Sarah enters the room, sits down, watches for a minute.
Sarah: Is she cooking that just for the halibut?
Me: Gee mom, the older I get, the smarter you seem.
Mom: Is that funny how that works? Since you were 21 right?
Me: More like … 30… 35 ….
Speaking of my mother, her new found Internet fame is going to her head. One of her recent post titles, a quote from … said “No matter how far you flee, you can’t escape your mother”. I couldn’t help but wonder if that was advice or a warning. Then I realized that I’ve done quite well entertaining everyone with stories about her, and now she is adding stories about her own mother, and doing well at it. Then I came to the staggering conclusion that I am living on borrowed time and at some point one of my kids will let lose.
After I recovered from my catatonic shock, I finished reading the entry and went, “Yep, that’s Nanny.”
you know, my mom could probably post twice a day, every day, for the next year and still not run out of material. People should leave her some comments, too because on top of her usual Sunday call about what’s-new-what’s-exciting, we now have Websites 101.
“Do you know what I did with that recipe for relish? How do I increase my hits? Do you want this random piece of furniture? What’s my search engine ranking anyway?”
Anyway. I typed that stuff all up something like three days ago. Since then, I have crossed two clients off my list, had a 2 hour conference call, added 2 clients, folded 3 loads of laundry, went on a field trip to a vet’s office and a tour of the local Dairy Queen, got groceries, went to the library and… I dunno, something else. It’ll come to me eventually.
I managed to watch around a half hour of the American VP debate. Oy vey. That was all I could handle right before bed. I also watched a bit of the Canadian Prime Minister debates, with a total of FIVE party reps. Cool, huh? All in a roundtable, talking over one another, making points etc… seemingly messier than the American debates but far, FAR more meaty. Something to think about though, is that Canadian troops are already in Afghanistan and have been for a while. Might want to co-ordinate some efforts there.
Enough with the political stuff. Look at my pretty pictures instead.
