I’m heading up to the busy season

It’s definitely fall here. So in addition to coding till our eyes bleed and trying to figure just how someone managed to mangle their site that bad, we are also doing the final prep for winter. And, you know, jettisoning some items off our impossibly large to-do list.

(Oh crap, I just remembered a couple people I really should email. Hmm. Yeah, I’m getting to it.)

Ron’s going for the quick fix on the septic field and the halfway done new bed can wait until spring, since the ground freeze is actually coming up on pretty fast and we have these mondo work deadlines looming. plus he’s getting too old to work outside all day and code all night.

Speaking of work, today and tomorrow are his last two days at Big Corp. Sarah also got a JOB at a Subs Plus / Pizza Twice. It is in an old Subway location, so the furniture and setup is all the same. I’ll see if I can get her to post some work stories. At least she says it’s easy and boring, so that’s good.

So. We have Ron at work for two days, Sarah working not even one kilometer from his office and at different hours, a dentist appointment for the other two girls this afternoon – and our car is back in the shop. We had it “fixed” on Monday, and by yesterday when I took Sarah to work and went for Thanksgiving / Birthday groceries, it made some lovely noises and the front tire seemed weird. This time we took it somewhere else and got a rental in the meantime. It’s a PT Cruiser, which is really cute, but so *plastic* in the body.  I mean literally. I haven’t driven it yet. Getting that straightened out took all afternoon.

Tomorrow is Sarah’s EIGHTEENTH birthday and Ron’s coworkers are taking him out to lunch. Saturday my mom and Carl are coming for thanksgiving dinner. Monday is actually Canadian Thanksgiving and technically a holiday, but Sarah’s working and I bet we will be too. Tuesday is Election Day for us up here, because of a minority government, and Sarah will be old enough to vote, which is cool. We’ve been talking about election stuff here for both Canada and the US. Fellow homeschoolers who are sick of US politics may want to study Canadian politics for a nice break. Especially our political satire.

I mean, where else can one party leader say to another “Where ya hiding your platform? under your sweater?” Cracks me up every time. This refers to the fact our current Prime Minister’s party does not have a published platform yet, and also attempts to soften his image by putting him in nice cozy sweaters. Probably to make him more human looking, I dunno. I don’t think it’s working.

Anyway! See? I have plans all the way into next week, and if I start adding in client deadlines, more birthdays, plans we haven’t quite finalized yet, and things we really should do, I am literally halfway into November. And then we get into Christmas plans.

So.

I pretty much know what I am doing (or should be doing) all the way to the end of the year. No wonder I’m disoriented every so often.

Do any of them have a platform? And is it really possible to make Harper human? The Canadian people want to know!
