Settling In

Ron and I have a little routine going, I think. I get up first, Emma and Meaghan may or may not be up. I do my fluffy internet stuff and check my email to see if the sky is falling. When Ron gets up, he does his morning hunt for coffee and things and eventually comes back to me and check his email and do fluffy internet stuff or handle emergencies.

Somewhere in there, or after, we get dressed. :D

I continue settling in to work, while Ron goes downstairs or outside to do things around the house. I work away until someone tells me they are hungry. If my mind can’t quite grasp work, I may do other things. Like yesterday. I was relaxing in the tub, ears under water, and I opened my eyes to see my husband standing over me.

This didn’t scare me as much as you think, considering Emma does the same.

Anyway, after lunch (which lately has been leftovers or scrounging in the freezer for odd things – I think we need to go grocery shopping) I head on back to work the afternoon. Ron goes.. I dunno what he does because I’m staring at my screen. Everyone floats in and out. Usually by 3 or so I’ve had enough and go get the mail and a snack. Ron starts getting into work mode by now. He usually does more work after supper and through the evening. He goes to bed at least an hour after my lights are out.

This works out quite well as we have a few overseas and west coast clients.

Darn. Forgot what else I was going to mention.

I uploaded a pile of photos to Flickr though.

Edit: I remembered! :D Ron is going around with a grin on his face most of the time. He teases me, we trade insults, snuggle at will and just generally enjoy the fact we can turn around and our partner is *there*.

It’s quite disgusting, really.

Sounds like you have completely different peak productivity times, which is great for balancing all the stuff that needs doing. Both the clients in other time zones and the kids and stuff around the house.

I can’t do any real work after 3 either. My mind wanders way too much. I can pay bills and mindless stuff like that but nothing involving real creative thought.

Have you seen Charlie’s posts about heatmapping your productivity? (http://www.productiveflourishing.com/how-heatmapping-your-productivity-can-make-you-more-productive/) Sounds like you guys just do that naturally.

I am afraid the only work schedule I can seem to eek out is in short burts of productivity. An hour here, an hour there. It is nice that you are figuring out quite a convenient routine.

I found myself missing Kevin on Monday and Tuesday this week, since he had to be in the office. I’ve gotten used to having him around.
