Christmas cards

If you’re not on the list and you want one, email me at andreaATatypicalife.net. We’ll be whipping them up and sending them out by Monday.

And we got our first one already, from the lovely family over at Relaxed Homeskool. Thanks Kim!

Elf clothesline

So many people love that elf clothesline. My mom got it from her local Avon lady. You can help a girl out by contacting your local rep, or order here. Currently on sale for $10 CAN.

Oddly enough, the same option is not available in the USA. Avon there has Mrs Claus’ clothesline. Also ten bucks, but in American funds.

I’m not sure which is cuter.

Parental pride

It’s a fine day for me when one of my kids finally “get it”. Meaghan talks here about cleaning and sorting, and WWMD(what would mom do).

That’s me in the spotlight

Hey, look! I submitted a parent hack and it got posted! :D Go read it here and be amazed.

I sometimes tell people offline that I’m famous in a small corner of the Internet, and stuff like this helps. ;) Now I have to actually *write down* some of the other “hacks” we’ve applied to our parenting. You know, on top of teaching the kids how to actually think. *snort*

What is a parent hack? Well, simple – kids don’t come with really specific instructions manuals, and the things you (the parent) do to adapt and make life easier would be called “hacks”.

Life Hacker is also a great site to get lost in for general things, including (but not limited to) geekery.

Edit: Doh! And I forgot Homeschool Hacks. I think I’ve thought of one…

Mail love!

Yesterday after I got home from our walk (more on that later), I found not one, but TWO packages in the mail. Wheeee!

We opened the big one first, and when I looked at the label, I knew who it was from. “Is there anything for me?” Emma always asks this and she is almost always disappointed. This time, she was very pleasantly surprised when I said, “YES! This big box!”

She jumped up and down, even.

It was a box of clothing from JoVE, who very kindly packed up some outgrown (and beautiful) items from her daughter. Emma and I moved the box to the living room, where we spent a few minutes oohhing and ahhhing over each item, including some summer tank tops for next year, which are *exactly* the kind Meaghan would wear.

Then she had to change into half of them, making outfits, strewing them all over the living room. The courdoroy skorts fit great and she loves them especially. Both of them matched the turtleneck she was wearing.

So thank you so much JoVE. Yes, Emma remembered your visit and told us all about it, all over again. She was really pleased and said that was so nice of Tigger. :D

And THEN, if that wasn’t enough, I remembered the smaller parcel. It was from Her Most Awesomeness, ToadyJoe, who sent me elderberry syrup. I had told her the berries looked like the wild blueberries here, so as soon as I taste it, I’m gonna let her know how good it is. Meaghan was also impressed with your domesticity, Toady. ;)

So thank you very much too!

I have the bestest invisible friends in the box on my desk EVAH! Kisses and hugs to both!

The Boss is back in the blogosphere

In case you missed it, Jay at the Zero Boss is blogging again, and this time – you can read his book on his blog. There’s a severe potty-mouth warning attached to his site though, but he does homeschool. ;) Check those stereotypes at the door…
