California dreaming

When I left for work at 6:45 am, the temperature was -19 degrees.   Luckily my husband started the truck for me so the ride to work was not too unbearable.  Still it was dark and cold and the roads were snow covered………..which got me dreaming of warmer climates.

A few years back we visited Torrence, California to attend the memorial services for Carl’s aunt and uncle.  Although the occasion was sad, that vacation was wonderful.   Each day we would get into the rental and drive in another direction.    No particular destination, just the sun and highway before us.

Of course I hit every fabric shop I could find.   I asked Carl not to do too much shopping as I would need every square inch of our luggage for fabric.    When I got home, I made this quilt from the fabric I purchased at Joann’s Fabric………..I named it California Dreaming……….on such a winter’s day.
