Traveling strategy
We did it all! On the way to Andrea’s we did a stop and drop at Sarah’s new abode. As Sarah did not get to bed before 5:00 a.m. she was barely conscious when we arrived at 10:30 a.m., so a visit was pointless. Sarah has inherited my “do not talk to me, give me a cup of tea” gene, which is very evident upon waking up.  This time duvets and fans were dropped off to make Sarah’s apartment more comfortable.
When traveling with the children years ago, I would always pack a bag of assorted new toys, books and treats to be handed out upon the hour. These inexpensive items were a great way to occupy their time and to keep the whining down.   My DH has a developed a similar strategy to entertain me while traveling to Andrea’s.  Our first stop is the Tim Horton’s in Doaktown, which is approximately one hour into the journey.  A fresh cup of tea holds me for the next leg of the journey.  An hour later, we stop at the Value Village in Fredericton. MY DH has a bit of a walk, a cigar and a short nap while I’m entertained by shopping.  This past Tuesday was no exception.
I purchased a 10 pound bag of fabric for $3.92 (thanks to my DH senior discount).  Rummaging through the bag of new to me fabric entertained me until we reached Woodstock 45 minutes later.   The bag of fabric contained a good assortment of 100 % cotton especially florals and Christmas prints.  Perfect, as Meaghan requested floral prints for her next quilt. The only fabric on my “to purchase” list was a solid blue cotton for the cottage swap blocks.  And wouldn’t you know it……….in the middle of the huge bag of fabric were four fat quarters of 100% percent cotton sky blue fabric…………..it was meant to be.
