It wasn`t on the list

I left the house at 5:45 this morning, in the dark, without a cup of tea or anything in my belly  to drive  for two hours to Moncton for obscure blood work requested by the haematologist.  Once the test are completed and the information reviewed the surgery to remove polyps in my nose will be scheduled.

The platelet aggregation had been scheduled two months ago.  Everything was going well until the haematology receptionist could not find the block to check for the new  test on the requisition form.  She called the blood clinic, they could not find the test on the form either.  Apparently this is not a common blood test.  That tech suggested she add a sticky note to the requisition.   Anita did so and took me to the registration desk to explain the new test.   The registration desk could not find it on the list either but made a notation  in the computer.    At the blood department, that receptionist could not find it and called Anita, who explained the whole situation again.   This receptionist had to explain everything to the nurse who was drawing the blood.   More phone calls ensued.

Finally 18 vials of blood were drawn and properly labeled.   I was allowed to go to the cafeteria for a cup of tea.  Life was good once again.

Ooooo, this was just like our day! We dropped off a roll of actual real film, but it was black & white, 36 exposures.
They didn’t have it on their list either. They had to call somewhere & get put on hold. 10 minutes later, they said they’d call me later in the day & let me know how much it will be.

    …..

18 vials? Do you have any LEFT?

Why is it “you” always have the weird stuff. The rest of the world has all the normal testing and anyone related to my blood or married to blood have issues.
