The big blue brick

bluequilt4The blue brick quilt is back from Jeannette’s, the lady who puts it all together for me.  She quilted it with a simple in the ditch stitch.  This one is for my grandson Addison and his lovely wife Katylyn, in celebration of their first child, a baby girl, who is expected to arrive within the month.

bluequilt5 Like his Mam, Addison likes a heavy quilt, so I used a wool blanket for the batting.  The binding consists of 7 inch strips of each of the blue fabrics I used in the quilt.

I took these pictures two days ago.  It was warm and sunny.  Yesterday we were hit with a nor’easter, so now that is snow and ice all over the back deck.  What a difference a day makes.

OH MY! I don’t read your blog for one day, and this is what I miss! It’s SO gorgeous, Mam! I love it! Thank you!!

  5. Mam says:

    Hi Lynn

No problem but you are already family. I thought one of K`s other grandmothers was a quilter as well

  6. Mam says:

Addison and Kaytlyn, you are very welcome. Now I need to get off my butt and finish the quilt for Isabella.

  7. Lynn says:

Mam, one of Kaytlyn’s other grandmothers is a quilter, but it is her Dad’s Mom and after 16 years of marriage and his parents being Mom and Dad to me, they stopped calling themselves that in regards to me. I guess that they figured after we split up, that I was just the mother of their grandchildren :( So no quilts for me!

Thank you Jean, coming from someone with your quilting skill, that is quite the compliment
