This past week has been crazy. We’ve had some interest in the house, more about that later. My DH has been bouncing across the province on job sites and is now in Nova Scotia. Plus we bought a van – a Montana, I think. As a result of the new vehicle, I inherited my husband’s old vehicle. A little Honda Civic. Apparently the old truck is just too expensive to fix. I am going to miss it.
This was my first day with the new to me vehicle. The Honda is just a basic vehicle, no bells, no whistles, no power window, no annoying little beeper when you leave your lights on. I travelled to Moncton today on visit, making a quick stop to pick up items at Walmart for the institution. As you all know I am not a fan of Walmart. When I returned to the Honda with my purchases, I was more than pissed to find the battery had died as I had left the lights on. I figured karma was having a good laugh at my expense.
I immediately attempted to contact my husband. Standing in the parking lot, with the sun beating down on me, late for a meeting with a car that would not start I tried to call from a pay phone. Twice I tried and twice I forgot my calling card pin number. The first time I tried he was driving through Nova Scotia and could not talk on the cell phone. He asked that I call him back as he had to pull over. Luckily I got the same operator each time. My husband suggested I find someone to give me a boost.
So back into Walmart I go and buddy, the greeter, took me to the Courtesy Desk. The nice lady there called the automotive department and 8 minutes later, the manager arrives with a battery, and booster cables in a cart. Two minutes and $10.00 later, I was once again a happy camper. Apparently boosting cars is a regular occurence at that Wal-mart store.
