I changed the header of my blog, to reflect a typical winter scape. My skin is dry, my feet are rough and my chest is wheezing. Winter is not my favourite time of the year.
The overnight temperate is to dip even lower, all the way down to minus 20. Factor in the wind chill and we are talking minus 30.
But I don’t worry, in the dark cold days of winter, I have something to warm my heart.
Isabella Isis and Ayla Athena……….they even sound like princesses. Not only are they very pretty little girls, they are brilliant. We are talking MENSA quality brilliant…..in my humble unbiased opinion. If you don’t believe me, ask their other grandmothers.
Adorable! I have a niece named Ayla..had never heard that name before and now seeing it again.
I completely agree – I figure one or both will cure cancer by age 10.
Ayla was named after the protagonist in the Earth’s Children book series (The Clan of the Cave Bear). The books are a fictional account of early Cro-Magnon humans and their possible interactions with Neanderthals.
Their middle names are named after ancient goddesses:
Isis = goddess of beauty, magic, and motherhood
Athena = goddess of strength, wisdom, and justice
I’d like to take credit for their brilliance but I honestly have no idea what I’m doing. Earlier this week Izzy pointed to the word “our” and said “Dat’s our”. She then pointed at the word “baby” and said “Dat’s Baby. Dat says “our baby” daddy!”
So the next day I bought her one of those overpriced crayola easels you see everywhere and a giant pad of paper to go with it. I thought it would be a good resource for her; boy was I right- within 15 minutes she went from scribbling all over it to drawing faces over and over and over again until we made her go to bed.
