DH and I were up bright and early. After a hearty breakfast of sausage and over easy eggs, so he suggested a day in town. It’s plus two today and the roads and sky are clear. We hit all the usual spots.
At Halifax Seed we bought a muscari bulb set complete with a delft blue planting bowl for less than $5.00. The store has a live in 5 year old tortoise shell ginger coon cat which they purchased on Kijji for mice control. By the size of the kitty, I think her diet consist of much more than the odd rodent. I love shopping at any store that has a resident cat, especially one that lays on the counter greeting customers.
A stop at Habitat for Humanity Restore produced 4 mahoney drawer liners and a denim work shop apron for DH, followed by lunch at Mother Nature’s. At Michael’s we found willow baskets on sale for 50% off. DH took a nap while I shopped at Value Village. A large bags of marbles, 2 white sheets to be used as quilt liners, a glass cookie jar and 1/2 dozen wide mouth mason jars were a real steal at less than $15.00.
We took the long way home through Hampton so we could shop at Kredl’s winter market. We drove through the Pickwauket and along the bay so we could see our house from the other side of the river. Every where we looked people were snowmobiling or sliding, enjoying the warm weather. It was a perfect day, no rushing, no tearing, no real plan, shopping at our leisure in stores we like.
Once we arrived home, DH relaxed by reading the paper. His day was complete when he read that Princess Auto (his favourite store in the world) are building a store in Saint John. Looks like there will be many more drives to town in our future. Hope your day was as good as ours.
