To quote Allen Saunders: “Life is what happens to us while we are making other plans.”
And this past month has been exactly that, actually the entire summer seems to be that way.
Early in July my colleague in Saint John suffered a stroke. He is recuperating but is not expected back until November if then.
I was asked to train someone to cover his duties, especially payroll. What started as a one day training session soon turned into three days a week.
I’ve arranged my time to work in Shediac the end of one week and the beginning of the next.
I love being home but my five minute commute to work in Shediac, translates to an hour’s drive to work in Saint John. But I get to sleep in my house, with my husband and kitty. The only sound I heard at night is the song of the crickets.
In late June I gave my notice to move out of the apartment at the end of August, long before the upset in Saint John.
Starting the first week of September I am booked into a bed and breakfast in Shediac for the off season. Will it be a five day week or just two nights? Who knows. The only constant in my life lately has been change. To quote Franklin D. Roosevelt…..’when you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot in it and hang on.”
