Putting away Christmas

We’ve been cleaning the house today, putting away the decorations. I realized that I had not posted any holiday photos, so to preserve the memories of Christmas 2013…….

Our Christmas tree was a beautiful birch which we rescued from the ditch on the Stewarton Road. We strung one string of solar powered lights along the trunk. This proved to be very beneficial on the Friday before Christmas when the power went out.

A mixutre of quilled, paper, plastic, crocheted, porcelain and wooden snowflakes donned the branches. In the middle was a bird’s nest with a porcelain bird, a gift to Julia years ago from her friend Heather.

I decorated the china cabinet with dishes from family and dear friends, framed favourite Christmas cards, glass kittens and the candle holders from my husband’s childhood home.

Baby Jesus was brought up from the basement to remind us of the true reason for Christmas.

The stockings were hung. The toys were scattered throughout the room.
