Moving time and the bloggin’ ain’t easy
Aug
My posts have been sporadic the last few weeks to say the least! As I mentioned before we have been busy, busy, busy. This is the last weekend in our home and we have been attempting to put 11 years into boxes. Not an easy task. Once we decided to sell the house over a year ago, I started packing china and items that I did not need on a daily basis. Mind you I’m wondering if I really need any of the boxes packed away. I’ve only opened one box in a year to retrieve a recipe I could not find on the internet.
DH however has not been so fortunate. He has been working away most of the past year, so this week was his first real chance to clean out the basement and his stuff. We hired a young lad to come over for the day, to help dismantle DH’s workshop. Not only did he go home with a pocketful of money for his labour, the trunk of his car was filled with what he thinks is really good stuff. I just can’t see the appeal in nuts, bolts, hammer and saws. If you’re not doing anything this weekend, give me a call. I am sure we have enough junk garbage yard sale items good stuff to fill your trunk too
We also signed the lease on our new apartment. Tomorrow we receive the keys.
My blog will be quiet for a bit this week, but I’m sure I’ll have plenty to tell once we get settled.
What Age do you act?
Jul
Here’s one of those on line quizzes that you just know are absolutely true!
This is my results, see what I mean!
You Act Like You Are 30 Years Old You are a thirty-something at heart. You’ve had a taste of success and true love, but you want more!
You’re responsible, wise, and have enough experience to understand a lot of the world.
You’re at the point in your life where you understand yourself pretty well.
You are figuring out what you want… and how to get it!
If that’s true, why is it that most mornings I feel like a 70 year old? What age do you act?
Take the quiz here.
hi lily, hi low
Jul
I’ve discovered something nice about this hot humid weather………….it makes the lilies bloom. And that is a good thing.
Hot, hot, hot
Jul
For the past four days the temperatures have reached 30 degrees plus in the Miramichi. The lowest temperature at 5:00 a.m. was 20 degrees. For two days we had the dubious distinction of being the hottest place in Canada. It’s too hot to blog, eat or even read.
The air conditioning in our office is not working. They should have it fixed by December. Same thing every year, some day they might equate fix the air conditioner with summer’s coming.
But I can’t complain. Imagine if in this heat you had a job like……………………a porta-potty cleaner……….or a garbage collector………..or a roofer.
Can you think of any other jobs that would suck in weather like this?
Here comes summer!
Jun
After three days of 30 degrees plus weather there is no doubt in my mind that summer is here at last.
Solstice is a combination of two Latin words, meaning “sun” + “to stand still.” As the days become longer, the sun rises higher and higher until it seems to stand still in the sky.
This results in the longest day and the shortest night of the year. We celebrate in June, but the people`down under have their longest summer day in December.
In ancient time, the Celts and the Slavs celebrated the first day of summer with dancing and bonfires to help increase the sun’s energy. The Chinese marked the day by honoring Li, the Chinese Goddess of Light. The Druids celebrated the wedding of Heaven and Earth, making June a lucky time for a wedding.
Pagans called the Midsummer moon the “Honey Moon” for the mead made from fermented honey that was part of wedding ceremonies performed at the Summer Solstice.
Ancient Pagans celebrated Midsummer with bonfires, when couples would leap through the flames, believing their crops would grow as high as the couples were able to jump.
So whether you plan to drink fermented honey, while dancing naked on your front lawn around a bonfire or just sit on your back deck enjoying the weather, have a great first day of summer.
What big cat are you?
Jun
Does this sound like me? Of course it does.
You have learned that you must rely on yourself, and yourself alone, to live a happy life.
You are understand the world better than most people you know. You are very perceptive and intuitive.
You need lots of space to think. If you don’t get the space you need, you’re likely to bite someone’s head off.
Because you are so thoughtful and solitary, people find you to be intense and mysterious. You’re even seen as intimidating.
I am a Snow Leopard.

No, nada, nay, nein Nose

Today I should have been traveling to Moncton for the operation on my nose. However my haematologist is not yet ready to give the okay. And that is fine by me. It is better to be safe than sorry especially as I have numerous allergies in addition to a bleeding problem. Despite the numerous delays in the operation, I can`t complain.
There has been quite a bit of interest in the house lately, so I figure we will have a sale and I will be booked for the operation all at the same time.
Here`s keeping my fingers crossed.
who nose

On Tuesday I received a message from the Hemophiliac Clinic, asking me to come in for even more blood work. I casually asked the receptionist if she could check with my hematologist to confirm that he had given the okay for my upcoming operation. And guess what? He hadn’t.
The good doctor wants to run more blood work, and will advise my ENT surgeon when to go ahead as planned. So I am back to not knowing when I will have the operation to remove the polyps from my nose. Oh well, all in good time.
Life just gets busy

This past week has been crazy. We’ve had some interest in the house, more about that later. My DH has been bouncing across the province on job sites and is now in Nova Scotia. Plus we bought a van – a Montana, I think. As a result of the new vehicle, I inherited my husband’s old vehicle. A little Honda Civic. Apparently the old truck is just too expensive to fix. I am going to miss it.
This was my first day with the new to me vehicle. The Honda is just a basic vehicle, no bells, no whistles, no power window, no annoying little beeper when you leave your lights on. I travelled to Moncton today on visit, making a quick stop to pick up items at Walmart for the institution. As you all know I am not a fan of Walmart. When I returned to the Honda with my purchases, I was more than pissed to find the battery had died as I had left the lights on. I figured karma was having a good laugh at my expense.
I immediately attempted to contact my husband. Standing in the parking lot, with the sun beating down on me, late for a meeting with a car that would not start I tried to call from a pay phone. Twice I tried and twice I forgot my calling card pin number. The first time I tried he was driving through Nova Scotia and could not talk on the cell phone. He asked that I call him back as he had to pull over. Luckily I got the same operator each time. My husband suggested I find someone to give me a boost.
So back into Walmart I go and buddy, the greeter, took me to the Courtesy Desk. The nice lady there called the automotive department and 8 minutes later, the manager arrives with a battery, and booster cables in a cart. Two minutes and $10.00 later, I was once again a happy camper. Apparently boosting cars is a regular occurence at that Wal-mart store.
