Oh, I don’t wanna know

Friday, November 20th, 2009 | Uncategorized | 1 Comment

Apparently I haven’t updated in 11 days.. Wow, I started forgetting to update this regularly sooner than I though. Since I started the last post with some music, I will also post music in this one.

This song has been on repeat for a bit, I originally heard him.. I can’t remember where, somewhere on the internet. This song was played at the end of the last House episode, which I just watched yesterday, so that’s been on repeat since then. Today in class we had a project that involved music, and someone in my class picked this song for their project and since then it’s been stuck in my head.

Anyways! What I’ve been up to. I had classes all this week and last week, and I can’t remember anything particularly special happening. Mam and Carl came up for a visit on Tuesday, so me, them, Addison and Kaytlyn all went out for supper and that was pretty fun. For the rest of the week, I had no school on Wednesday because of remembrance day. I also recall hanging out with Kaytlyn as well as my friend Mike at some point in there. Apparently I’m doing pretty good in graphics, at least on the project we were working on, so I’m pleased with that. For the weekend, I worked quite late both Friday and Saturday. My Aunt Glenda came up for a visit on Saturday, which was short but enjoyable! I’m now pretty excited for Christmas, because Glenda and my grandfather Adrian are both coming to my parents place for it! so that should be fun.

Oh, and I never posted about my friend Mike.. I bother him a lot, so he’ll probably get mentioned (I think at one point since I’ve had this blog, he said something ridiculous and then told me to post it because he wanted on here) Anyways.. He hungers for hands?

This week.. Sunday I hung out with people from school. Monday there was a meteor shower, which Mike and I tried to watch but it was too cloudy (We even went to the north side, luckily we didn’t get shanked by a hobo.) Tuesday was the school week starting again.. We had to do powerpoint presentations. For drawing we did value drawings with vine charcoal, which I really enjoyed. In art history this week, we learned a lot about Asian art, including stuff about Buddhism which was SUPER interesting and I really enjoyed. For my Creative Process class, I had to subvert a cliche and made this. For design class today, we had to represent a song with a designed image. I will possibly post pictures of mine later, but lets just say I spent 4 hours last night cutting out anatomical hearts out of paper.

Tonight there was an adventure, but that gets its own entry (OMG) so I will save that for the next entry (it is totally worth the wait though)

And I feel like I just got home

First off, I want to let you know that I found this cover, and am posting it because it reminded me of my mother.

So, since I last posted.. Thursday I had a class called 2-D Design (Which will now be referred to as ‘design class’)  which is one of my favorites out of all of them. Our assignment for this week was that we were given a sheet of shapes (long.. rods/sticks? squares, circles and triangles) and with that, we had to create a design that showed a good use of scale, balance and proportion. The only other problem was that we were only allowed to use what shapes were on the sheet, and we has to make one with an off-white background with shapes that were grey, white and black (We didn’t have to use all the shapes, just all the colours), and then we had to replicate it in colour in a manner that would change how it was seen. So, after much rearranging of shapes, this is what my final piece came out as (sorry my camera is picky with lighting):

It was received pretty well, so I’m glad about that. I also cut the mat for it (the black frame) which is something we learned how to do a few weeks ago. Design class is a lot of fun in general, because while we’re doing in-class work, we listen to music on youtube and dance and it is generally a fun time.

Friday I had graphics class, and what we’re working on now is photo manipulation.. On pictures of people in the class (and the teacher) and it is a LOT of fun, and there was a lot of laughing in class. I also had to work on Friday, and due to some staff complications I ended up having to close, which means I didn’t get home until 2 in the morning. I wasn’t scheduled to work on Saturday (I mostly just work 2 shifts a week, and usually it’s Friday and Saturday night.. This week I’d worked Sunday and had Saturday off) but they called me at 5 and asked if I could come in to close because they were short staffed.

Today I didn’t do much.. I bought groceries, I went for a walk because it was really nice out, and I hung out with Addison and Kaytlyn for awhile.. and I procrastinated on writing my essay that’s due on Tuesday! (It’s half done now..!) All in all, an exciting week. Actually, that was kind of a boring week because it was just schoolhomeworkworkwork because I didn’t do anything social at all. Alas, there is always next week!

First post!

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009 | Uncategorized | 7 Comments

I’m going to try and be brief on this one, as writing this is a break from homework.

HELLO! First post. Party time obviously. So, I am Andrea’s daughter and Dianne’s granddaughter. From now on, they will be referred to as “Mom/Mum” and “Mam” (When Addison, my brother, was born, my grandmother said that she was too young to be a grandmother and for us to call her Mam instead, and the name stuck) since using their first names seems really strange. I am the newest addition to Mom’s website, making this a website that has three generations of bloggers on it.

You may be wondering why this blog is called what it is. I happen to be in college, who would have thought? I was homeschooled for the rest of my education and am now attending a craft and design college. The program I’m in right now covers.. Well, pretty much everything (drawing, design, colour theory, creative classes, art history, writing) and various “media classes”, where you actually get to go in the studio and make things. We only have each studio for 7 weeks until we move onto the next one, and after this year is done you can decide which one you want to go in. I’m pretty set to go into graphics, which I just started last Friday. The media class I had before that was textiles (surface design and fiber arts), which I really enjoyed (I’m pretty sure I will end up buying a loom someday.)

Aside from school, I also work at a place called Panago, which some of you may have heard of before. I’ve been working there since mid-August and it is a pretty good place. I usually end up working cash, so I don’t get to make pizzas that often, but i do get to talk to people about pizza and delicious things. (Oh, and my co-workers are fun)

I also do social things with a number of people, which will come up as they come up, I guess. Generally I’m really busy. Here is an example of last Friday to today:

Friday – Graphics class, work, Addison’s birthday party
Saturday – Work, Halloween party
Sunday – Work
Monday – Mom, Meaghan and Emma came for a visit, homework
Tuesday – School (Tuesdays I have school from 9am to 8pm)
Today (Wednesday) – School

And then tomorrow is more school, the day after that I have school and work, and shockingly enough I’m not working this Saturday.

I’m hoping that I’ll be able to keep up posting/have interesting things to post about. I have a few ideas for categories/regular things I can post, but I’m not sure yet. (Also, anyone that I see on a regular basis that may be reading this – if you do not want me to mention you for whatever reason, please let me know. I know people can be picky about stuff like that, so yes.)
